The Pastor's Pondering is updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Two men stopped at the convenience store to gas up the truck. When the tank was full they walked inside the store to pay the cashier.
“Hey, look,” said one, “the lottery is up to thirty million. I think I’ll buy five tickets. You want to get some?”
“I don’t buy those things,” the other man said.
“Why not? Thirty million is a lot of money.”
The other said, “I know that. But the odds are about one in five million you’ll win. If you think about it, that means the odds are almost 100% you’re going to lose.”
“Well, if you don’t play you’ll automatically lose,” said the one.
“I don’t think so,” said the other. “I’ll take home five dollars more than you will today.”
So it is with life. We’d be much better off counting the blessing we already have.
