Pastor's Ponderings

The Pastor's Pondering is updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Brokenness

We live in a world where nothing seems permanent, especially in the basic family. Somewhere around half the children in school today consider themselves to have more than two parents. The step parent has become the norm rather than the abnormal.

Carveth Mitchell, in The Sign In The Subway, tell of a cartoon where a young woman and man are talking to the pastor. She says, “John and I are having a terrible time, and we need your advice. We are trying to decide how to divide the furniture, who gets what of the money we’ve saved, and who gets custody of the children.”
The pastor responds in concern, “You are contemplating a divorce.”
“Oh, no,” says the woman. “We are trying to work out our prenuptial agreement.”
As we look to the future together, maybe we should consider that we usually get what we are expecting.
