The World Is Our Parish
Missions is a vital ministry of The Farmville Church. As John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, put it, "The world is our parish."
We recognize that the world includes our need to serve those who live in the shadow of this church as well as those we can reach through overseas missions. The members of this church assured that no child entered the schools this year without the proper school supplies and clothing. We continually make our resources available to the Family Advocate workers at the area schools. We have established a Food Pantry for those in need.
In August, 2005, two nurses who are members of our congregation represented our church on a Medical Mission trip to the island of Figi. In previous years members of our congregation have been active in the construction of a Orphange in Mexico.
In 2006 members of the Farmville Church went to Mexico once again on a medical mission trip.
In the fall of 2006 a work team is going to Applachia to work with a local mission group providing services to the indigent peoples of the area.
The Farmville Church is a significant sponsor of the work of the Reverend Ash and Audra McEuen, missionaries with the Mission Society of United Methodists. At the present time the McEuen's are in training for their assignment to mission work in the Andes in Peru. For more information on the McEuen's ministry Click Here.
